Why EdVentures with Lea and Nina?

This innovative training course is designed for educators to enhance their teaching practices by equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to foster essential “Future Ready Teaching” skills. These include collaborative classroom management, design thinking, personal sustainability, critical thinking, creativity, accessibility, and equity in education, all while integrating innovative methods into their classrooms.


The purpose of EdVentures with Lea and Nina courses is to deepen pedagogical competence through collegial learning and innovative methodologies. Our goal is for every educator to learn how to create an educational environment that supports their students' development and learning - a dynamic, engaging space with a clear and meaningful pedagogical focus, as well as develop strategies for teachers to cope with the challenges of modern teaching by fostering personal sustainability, ensuring they remain energized, balanced, and effective in their roles. 

Who are Lea and Nina?

Lea and Nina are two passionate and accomplished educators who share a profound belief in the power of education to shape a better future. With their exceptional work recognized by numerous international awards, they have joined forces to create meaningful educational adventures that empower educators and, by extension, the children they teach.


Lea Colner is a Slovenian-Swedish educator with expertise in classroom teaching, school leadership, and sustainability-focused education. Having studied and worked in Slovenia and Sweden, she brings a wealth of international experience. Among her many achievements, Lea has authored a book on the Storyline Approach, introduced innovative teaching methodologies, and led her school to global recognition as one of the most inspiring institutions for sustainable development. Her leadership and dedication were celebrated with prestigious awards in Sweden, such as "Leader of the Year in Sustainability" in 2024.


Nina Jelen, on the other hand, is a creative and resourceful primary school teacher whose innovative teaching strategies have earned her accolades such as the National Teacher Prize of Slovenia and recognition from the European Commission. Known for her ability to make learning fun and impactful, she skillfully combines creativity, play, and design thinking to inspire her students. Her approach to education fosters not only academic achievement but also emotional growth and community building among children.


Together, Lea and Nina have created Edventures with Lea and Nina, a platform that addresses the challenges educators face worldwide. They aim to make teaching joyful, impactful, and meaningful. Through their thoughtfully designed courses, they help educators create dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable learning environments.

Their joint mission is clear: to empower educators with tools, strategies, and inspiration that directly enhance student development and learning. Description and Course Overview

Course Title: Teachers' EdVentures for Future Ready Classrooms - Creative Strategies for Engaging and Reflective Teaching 


Participants will delve into the creative process, explore innovative strategies, and discover practical tools to address real-world challenges. Special emphasis is placed on applying creative strategies in diverse educational settings while addressing the needs of students in today’s dynamic learning environment. The course also integrates effective classroom management strategies, along with valuable tools, tips, and tricks to help maintain an engaging and productive classroom. This interactive and hands-on course empowers you to transform your teaching approaches, inspire creativity, and prepare learners for a sustainable future.

  • Classroom Management Strategies: Explore practical techniques, tools, tips, and tricks to create a positive, engaging, and productive learning environment.
  • Storyline Approach to Teaching and Project based learning: Explore its methodology and applications in fostering interdisciplinary, cross-curricular learning.
  • Design Thinking: Engage in user-centered strategies to solve complex educational challenges.

Course Methodology


This course employs a blend of methodologies to ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience:


  • Interactive Lectures: Theoretical insights presented in an engaging format.
  • Hands-On Activities: Practical tasks and exercises to apply concepts immediately.
  • Group Discussions: Peer-led conversations to foster collaboration and diverse perspectives.
  • Case Studies: Real-world examples to understand the application of innovative strategies.
  • Creative Exercises: Activities to inspire thinking outside the box and develop creative solutions.
  • Classroom Visits: Observational opportunities to see best practices in action.


How do we do that? 


Over the course of six days, participants will engage in a dynamic learning experience rooted in the Storyline Approach to Teaching, where they will become "masters" at Lea and Nina’s EdVentures Academy.

Using hands-on, interactive, and collaborative methods, participants will explore how to optimize classroom management by creating inclusive learning environments where every child actively participates, grows, and thrives. From enhancing creativity to promoting sustainable education practices, this course empowers teachers to build classrooms where students are inspired and equipped for the future.

Participants will also have the opportunity to experience Slovenian schools and preschools, gaining valuable insights into our local teaching practices and innovative approaches in education.

Program Overview


Sunday: 

17.00-19.00: Arrival, Introduction, Registration And Mingle.


Monday - Friday: 

9.00 - 11.00: Morning Session: Hands-on activities.

11.00 - 11.30: Coffee Break 

11.30 - 13.30: Afternoon session: Active connection of hands-on work with experienced practices and theories. 

13.30 - 14.30: Lunch Time 

Learning Outcomes


By the end of this course, participants will:


  1. Adapt Effective Classroom Management Strategies: Gain practical techniques and tools to create an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters active student participation and growth, while also deepening your knowledge about equity in education to ensure all children and students can succeed.
  2. Integrate the Storyline Approach: Develop the ability to implement the Storyline Approach to Teaching, creating interdisciplinary, cross-curricular learning experiences that are both dynamic and meaningful.
  3. Apply Design Thinking in Education: Learn how to use design thinking methodologies to solve complex educational challenges and promote creative problem-solving among students.
  4. Leverage Games and Play for Learning: Understand how to incorporate playful strategies into lessons to energize students, enhance engagement, and build critical thinking and collaboration skills.
  5. Promote Sustainability in Education and Personal Well-being: Embed sustainability practices into teaching approaches to help students understand and engage with sustainability concepts in a practical and impactful way. In addition, support teachers in maintaining their personal sustainability by providing strategies for self-care, managing stress, and creating a work-life balance, ensuring they remain energized and effective in their roles.
  6. Foster Creativity and Critical Thinking: Cultivate an environment that encourages creative thinking, critical analysis, and innovation in students, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow’s world.
  7. Collaborate with Teacher Colleagues for Continuous Improvement: Engage in peer-led discussions, share best practices, and reflect on personal and professional growth throughout the course, contributing to a culture of collegial learning.
  8. Create a Vision for the Future Ready Classroom: Reflect on and design an actionable, personalized vision for an optimal learning environment that supports student development, creativity, and sustainable practices.

From the vibrant capital city of Ljubljana to the serene shores of Lake Bled, Slovenia offers a blend of stunning landscapes, rich history, and warm hospitality. 


During the course, you’ll have time to immerse yourself in the country’s natural wonders, cultural treasures, and delightful cuisine, creating memories that go beyond the classroom and make your learning journey all the more special. In collaboration with a fine-scale tourist agency, we will offer well-planned afternoon opportunities to discover the beautiful landscapes of Slovenia at your own cost.

Costs:
The course fees may be supported through a Key Action grant under the Erasmus+ Program. Our pricing policy follows official regulations to ensure transparent costs.

Course fee: 480 euros per participant.

What is Not Included:

  • Travel: Participants are responsible for organizing and funding their travel to and from the course location. We encourage minimizing your carbon footprint when planning travel.
  • Local Travel and Meals: Local transportation (e.g., airport transfers, train/bus tickets, taxis) and meals are not included in the course fee. Please keep receipts and consult your school or sending organization for possible reimbursement.
  • Accommodation: Accommodation costs are not included in the course fee and need to be arranged and funded by the participants themselves.


Certification details


Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance along with a detailed program outlining the topics covered. Participants who actively present and share their practices during the course will have this achievement specifically noted on their certificate.


Additionally, participants will receive:

  • Certificate of Obtained Competencies: A certificate highlighting the key skills and competencies acquired during the course.
  • Europass Mobility Certificate (if requested): An official certificate that details the learning experience, enabling participants to demonstrate their professional development across European countries.

How to Pre-register for Our Courses?

You can pre-register for any scheduled EdVentures with Lea and Nina course by filling out our online form here:

What Pre-registration Means?

Pre-registration does not require any booking fee, course payment, or obligation to attend. It simply means you have completed our online form and selected a specific course and date. After submitting the form, you will receive an email confirming your successful pre-registration.

While pre-registration alone does not secure your place, your spot will be reserved pending completion of the payment conditions specified below. In cases where courses near capacity, those who have pre-registered will be prioritized over new inquiries. Once the course is confirmed, you will receive billing details, and upon payment, your spot will be secured, transitioning your status to ‘registered,’ ensuring your confirmed place in the course.

Additionally, useful documentation such as Learning Agreement templates, and Europass Mobility templates (if requested), will be provided. We will keep you updated on the course status, including confirmations and availability of places.


How to Formalize and Guarantee Your Course Place

To formalize and guarantee your course place, full payment of the course fee is required. We will send you a course invoice with payment details. Upon receipt of your payment, we will confirm your place via email.


What If I Can’t Attend a Course and I Have Paid?

If you need to cancel your participation due to personal circumstances such as flight changes, health concerns, or other matters, we do not provide refunds. However, you can reschedule your booking to another course within the same category at no additional cost. This option is available for up to two years from the cancellation date.


What If the Organizers Cancel the Course?

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a course, you will receive a full refund of your course fee within 4 weeks of the cancellation notice.
